Eudora 5 Settings - Checking Mail:

Again, the screen is fairly self-explanatory, and most of it should be already filled out if you completed step 2 :

  • Account/Server Information
    • Enter your username (including number!) in the Username field
    • In the "Mail Server" field, put the POP3 (incoming) server name
    • "Mail Protocol" must be "POP"
    • "Authentication" must be "Passwords"
    • You can check or uncheck "Save Password", but we recommend leaving it checked
    • Do NOT check "overlap commands"
  • Connection
    • Put a check in the "Check for mail..." box
    • Please do not check mail any more often than on 10 minute intervals...
    • The other options here do not matter for the purposes of SMTP AUTH
  • Mail Management
    • None of these settings matter for the purposes of SMTP AUTH
